There are better ways to Volunteer for Cancer
o Tanning Beds can increase your risk of Malignant Melanoma
o Making use of Tanning Beds before the age of 30 can increase your risk of getting Melanoma by 75%

If using Tanning Beds are that dangerous and can increase your risk for Melanoma (the most serious form of skin cancer), why are so many young women in Quebec making use of Tanning Beds?
According to Health Canada, it is illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to use a tanning salon. Although I wonder how many tanning salons actually follow this age restriction? Also is 16 really old enough?
In Quebec, there is not much supervision where tanning is concerned. However, in Nova Scotia and certain cities in British Columbia, indoor tanning is banned for minors.
Indoor tanning definitely seems to be dangerous to young women and the media does not seem to be helping either. We have so many reality shows on Television that seem to be promoting indoor tanning.
The Canadian Cancer Society has launched a new campaign with the slogan, “There are better ways to Volunteer for Cancer” and also have a petition on their website:
Indoor Tanning Beds are not only physically dangerous to young women but mentally as well.
Most young women go to tanning salons because they feel it will make them look more attractive. They have been persuaded to believe that they are not okay the way they are.
This is not true! Something that is so harmful to us both mentally and physically does not make us more attractive.
Beauty is something that comes from the inside. The more beautiful we think we are, the more others will believe it as well!
